Description

A fiery temperament that overflows into conflagration if the wielder doesn't keep themselves in check, this class thrives on using emotion as fuel for the abilities. A highly social class that gets worked up while interacting with others, their passion building up heat which MUST be channeled productively or else it will be released uncontrollably.

Gear

Charred Scarf

a fire-singed scarf. Grants decent magical protection and can burn without damaging or consuming it. Activate to cause nearby flame to match your emotional intensity for Low duration.

Flint-striker Gloves

a pair of thin leather gloves with an embedded flint striker. Provides decent environmental protection and fire immunity to your hands. Snap your fingers to direct a spark to fly up to a Low distance, instantly igniting flammable surfaces.

Ashen Robes

good environmental protection, especially against heat. Activate to cause thick black smoke to billow out that can be formed into a Pitched simple shape for Low duration (Mid cooldown)

Flametongue

a 5ft long flaming whip. Can be easily wrapped around targets in range, causing severe burns. Bound targets enter an Altered State of uncontrollable rage for Low duration.

Accelerant

sealed glass globes filled with a viscous, extremely flammable fluid. (max 4x)

Thermal Lens

a thin shard of obsidian glass, used as a lens (e.g. monocle, visor). Activate while looking through the lens to gain thermal vision, including seeing emotional intensity as heat.

Abilities

Hot Under the Collar

Your body builds up heat as you emote intensely while interacting with someone. You can tap into this power, but if left unchecked, it will burn you alive.

(Low essence, Mid duration, Low cooldown)
The user builds up heat, fueled by their passionate emotions (anger, love, etc).
The user will gradually sustain magical fire damage over time if heat is not released.
If heat is not lowered after the ability duration or reaches critical levels this ability will release a wave of flame emanating from the user, scaling with how much heat has built up. Doing so resets heat to baseline.

Paired Action: Emote intensely, getting increasingly worked up.

Searing Intensity

Your body’s heat manifests as a commanding presence as you inspire allies and neutrals while intimidating your enemies.

(Low-Mid essence, Low-Mid duration, Mid cooldown)
The range of the effect scales with your body’s heat.
Using this ability lowers your heat by a Low amount, but heat may be increased by up to a High amount by extending the Paired Action into a Turning Point depicting your character giving an impassioned monologue.

Paired Action: Stand tall, breathe deep, then yell out a rallying shout or battle cry. Extend into a Turning Point to generate heat via a passionate monologue.

Controlled Burn

You gather your body’s heat into your hands, creating, shaping, and launching fire at will. More heat generates a more powerful effect however it is also harder to control.

(Low-Mid essence, Low duration, Low cooldown)
This ability’s essence cost scales with the amount of heat used to fuel the ability.
Scaling examples: at low heat, can light a candle; at moderate heat, can shape a ball of fire; at high heat, can shape a rough construct of a dog.
Using this ability lowers your heat proportionally to how much heat is utilized.

Paired Action: Using precise controlled movements, gather and concentrate your heat within your hands and carefully shape it.
