Inertia (Piloted by MushroomPlant's Mom)

Inertia was the youngest of a lively brood born to a couple of elderly lizard nobles. From an early age, she exhibited abilities typical of her reptilian kind, such as fast learning, long-term memory, and problem-solving. More circumspect than her ebullient and sporty siblings, she spent her free time in the family library and conservatory rather than out on the playing fields and courts. Her parents gave her free rein to explore their sizable book collection, and her great-aunt cultivated her interest in rare plants and their culinary and medicinal uses. Her grandfather, who was known to possess certain magical powers, realized that she was an especially sensitive and perceptive child, and taught her a form of instantaneous waking-sleep meditation that heightened her intuition. 
 
Inertia's strong curiosity and highly developed analytical skills earned her early entry to the Lizardo Library Academy, from which she graduated Summa Crumb Larder, the youngest in the school's history to earn that honor. Her sense of fair play and steadfast loyalty led to lasting friendships with gifted classmates who went on to distinguished posts at academic, national, and specialty library institutions across the land. Inertia planned to return home and take a position at the library in her family's town, but while she was on her journey there, she suddenly intuited terrible danger. Hiding in a wooded area on a hillside, she saw a band of marauders sweep through the valley below. Sadly, none of her relatives survived the massacre, and her home and the library were destroyed. 
 
Finding herself alone in the world, Inertia turned to books for solace—and for survival. Through a former classmate, she found a temporary job organizing and cataloging a private library for a collector. Gradually, through word of mouth, she built a reputation and became a library consultant, traveling widely to help people put their books in order. Though she missed having a home to call her own, she enjoyed the variety of people and places she encountered through her work.
