Baʂalt is from the underground kingdom of Lithora, a sprawling metropolis carved entirely out of stone, deep beneath the surface of Manifold. Lithora is known for its incredible architecture carved directly into the earth it stands upon.

In Lithora, only one in a hundred thousand is born with the sacred gift of earth manipulation. These individuals are known as Geoki and are destined for life as members of the Geoki caste. Geoki serve as elite warriors, revered architects, and pious clergy.

When Basalt's powers manifested at a young age, he was sent away for training. The training process was grueling and brutal. Many fail, their bodies becoming one with the earth they failed to master. Basalt persevered and made it to his initiation ceremony, performed in front of the Geoki leadership, The Council of Stones.

However, just as he was being inducted, there was an unexpected attack. The attackers were able to disrupt the Geokis' abilities, killing several council members before abruptly disappearing. Basalt was accused of being a traitor and conspiring with the infiltrators. Lacking evidence, the Council of Stones stripped him of his status and exiled him from Lithora.

He spent years wandering the subterranean tunnels until he was discovered by the Enclave.
