Background

Raiju was born in Gray Harbor, a grimy, forgotten city where the streets devoured children faster than the gangs could train them. His father abandoned the family, and his mother died when he was nine, leaving him to survive alone in a world of violence, poverty, and neglect. By sixteen, he had become a street gangster, running with the Wirewalkers, a gang that scavenged and fought for scraps, learning early that loyalty was fragile and survival demanded brutality.

During a brutal gang raid, cornered on a rain-slick rooftop beneath a storm-laden sky, Raiju cried out to the heavens for power. From the storm answered a Lightning Djinn, offering him immense electrical powers in exchange for a mysterious, unseen debt. Desperate and furious at a world that had given him nothing, Raiju agreed, becoming a Stormrider — lightning coursing through his veins and a bond with the Djinn that granted him devastating storm abilities, yet tethered his fate to a force he could not fully control.

He discovered a broken guitar in a junkyard and bound it to his soul with the Djinn’s blessing, turning it into Voltstrider, a conduit for his powers. Now, Raiju roams as a living storm, strumming electrified chords that can level walls and strike fear into enemies, while carrying the weight of his tragic past, the streets that made him, and the ever-present whispers of the Djinn reminding him that power always has a price.
