A Mother's Cold Heart

You are being sent to a mountaintop court, which has enjoyed centuries of prosperity thanks to an alliance with the Mog, goblinlike creatures of snow, and their imperious Queen, thanks to her control of the local weather. Recently, however, the snow turned red, heralding a vicious and unprompted Mog invasion. The king and much of the court are already dead, with only the elite guards still holding out, guarding a handful of remaining courtiers in the courtyard of the sacred spring at the heart of the palace. The Queen of the Mog has rejected all parleys and, seemingly, cannot be reasoned with. Your job is to drive the Mog away before they eliminate the last vestiges of the court in full.

After porting in, the squad were immediately faced by a Mog vanguard overrunning the courtyard, which they fought off alongside the elite guards. Justine managed to get into the palace archives, deterring the few Mog there just long enough to speak with an archivist before the place flooded.

The Mog attacks continued, with Vadim extracting himself just long enough to locate a beautiful blue pearl of icy magic at the bottom of the spring. Putting the pieces together, the squad infered the source of the Queen's rage: the loss of her half-human daughter. Vadim rallied the guard for a final push as the Queen appeared, and, after a tense confrontation, the squad managed to broker a peace, largely thanks to Rhiannon touching the Queen's heart with the story of her own lost child.
