Mission Statement
Lord Archibald Walters has entered the 49th Annual Crogley League of Literature Lovers’ Novel Novel Knockout, a game show for choosing the best new book. He is positioned to win, due in large part to the contract he signed with the Demon Prince Maralvi. Lord Walters’ steward Rodger found a clause deep in the contract that stated If Lord Walters wins the contest, he would surrender full control of his lands, funds, and bodily autonomy. Rodger brought this to Lord Walter’s attention, but he was not willing to withdraw and forsake all the work he has put into his appearance at the convention. He went as far to assert that if he did not place in the top 2, Rodger himself would face the consequences. With no other options, Rodger called in a favor.
Your mission is to ensue that Lord Walter gets second place in the competition.
Mission Summary
The agents, Zev the Swindler, Ms Evans the Librarian and Lord Frobisher the Oddball arrived in the middle of the convention. They spoke with their client before Zev went to the bathroom. The other two met another author named Marcus Alvarez, and decided to help him win the contest instead.
Zev went to the bar near the pub and found the judges engaging in some illicit gambling. Threatening to expose them unless they complied, he goaded them into entering a bit with uncertain terms. He managed to come out on top of the blackjack game. Frobisher led Marcus to the game, but he and Zev became suspicious of Marcus, seeing how the judges treated him. One of them, Zobert, agreed to vote in accordance with
Ms Evans visited the other authors and found one named Prudence who was writing a nice book about sheep. She decided to support her instead of Marcus.
Soon after the bell rang signaling the start of the judging ceremony. Marcus tried to resign but Frobisher crashed the computer, Zev replaced a judge he knocked out and Ms Evans unveiled Marcus as a demon and took away his power. In the end, the Demonic tome had to settle for second place, behind Prudence’s “Tales of Sheep”
