Background

A loner from the start, Ashe was raised in the concrete sprawl of the inner city. As a teenager, a chance encounter brought him face-to-face with a local crime boss. Backed into a corner, the young man showed grit—standing his ground and earning the boss's grudging respect. He was given a chance to prove himself worthy of joining the family: track down a debtor. He excelled, and quickly became their top tracker.
Then came the gray suit.
Spotted at the scene of a drug deal gone horribly wrong, the man had an immense bounty on his head, and Ashe was called in to collect. He spent days, then weeks, on the hunt. He pulled every trick he knew, but the gray suit stayed one step ahead.
Finally, catching sight of him exiting a diner, Ashe felt a sudden coldness spread through him. He stepped into a nearby phone booth and was there—emerging from the diner's cellar. The gray suit's face was unreadable. Familiar, yet unrecognizable.
"I've got you," Ashe said, snapping a cuff around their wrist, the other attached his own.
"So it would seem." A thin smile. "A remarkable talent you have. Perhaps you'd consider... alternative employment?"
The gray suit held out a business card. Ashe took it, glanced down, and when he looked up to reply—
They had vanished leaving the other end of the cuffs dangling loosely from his wrist.
